The first trailer for director Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot, released Thursday, plays out many of the familiar visual and comedic tropes of the original 1984 classic through a slicker, contemporary lens. Instead of a modified ambulance, the new Ghostbusters' transportation of choice is a souped-up hearse. And it looks like the ladies will be wielding additional weapons to capture ghosts.
Though not much of the plot is actually revealed -- other than four women living in New York City decide to use their technical and scientific know-how to bust heads, spiritually speaking, of course -- the trailer does offer the first footage of stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones in action. Chris Hemsworth is also briefly seen.
