Saturday night fever: Five shows worth catching tonight in the Lehigh Valley

January 21, 2017

Whether it's discovering your new favorite band or clutching your stomach from laughter, there are plenty of ways to spend your Saturday evening in the Lehigh Valley.

Here are shows worth catching tonight:

STEELSTACKS IMPROV COMEDY FESTIVAL

The annual SteelStacks Improv Comedy Festival resumes today, starting at noon and running through 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Do the math: That's 13.5 hours of nonstop improv comedy! Today's lineup includes Lehigh Valley-based troupes Cast Party, Jed & Dan, Aunt Merica, Dream Carnival, Just Us, The Fourths, ManDudeBro, Aliens That Are Ancient, Matt and Dan's Puppet Nightmare and Lehigh University's The Hobo Army. Headliners The Improvised Shakespeare Company are also on the list for tonight. Tickets cost $26-$29. steelstacks.org

SHAWN CAV ENSEMBLE CROWDFUNDING CONCERT

Bassist Shawn Cav and his experimental jazz ensemble are turning to fans to help raise money to record the follow-up to their 2016 debut, Glass Houses, with an intimate performance at the Unicorn Theatre, 417 Front St., Catasauqua. Show time is 8 o'clock. Admission costs $8. Attendees will receive a free copy of Glass Houses (while supplies last). The event is BYOB. shawncav.com

DEAR ANNA DUO

Dear Anna's Lorenzo Bubba and Jonny Cornelius will strip down -- musically speaking, of course -- for an acoustic set at Leaf Restaurant & Cigar Bar, 90 Mort Drive, Forks Township. Show time is 6:30 p.m.

CHELSEA LYN MEYER BAND

Singer-songwriter Chelsea Lyn Meyer and her band will rock Northampton's Hammerhead Lounge, 326 Main St. chelsealynmeyer.com
