Freddy Awards 2016: Participating schools, productions announced

The 2015 Freddy Awards are over, but Freddy Fever for the 2016 event is ramping up.

The State Theatre announced Tuesday the 29 participating schools for next year's ceremony. The 2016 Freddy Awards, which recognizes excellence in high school theater, are set for 7 p.m. May 26 at the Easton theater. The show will broadcast live on WFMZ-TV Channel 69 and online at wfmz.com.

The participating schools and productions are:

  • Allentown Central Catholic High School, TBD
  • Bangor Area High School, Ragtime
  • Belvidere High School, TBD
  • Bethlehem Catholic High School, Wonderful Town
  • Catasauqua High School, All Shook Up
  • Dieruff High School, TBD
  • Easton Area High School, TBD
  • Emmaus High School, Once Upon a Mattress
  • Freedom High School, Guys and Dolls
  • Hackettstown High School, No, No Nanette
  • Liberty High School, Pippin
  • Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School, Mirror the Musical
  • Moravian Academy, Big Fish
  • Nazareth Area High School, Thoroughly Modern Millie
  • North Warren Regional High School, Godspell
  • Northampton High School, Oliver!
  • Northern Lehigh High School, Legally Blonde
  • Northwestern Lehigh High School, Annie Get Your Gun
  • Notre Dame High School, She Loves Me
  • Parkland High School, Titanic
  • Phillipsburg High School, TBD
  • Salisbury High School, TBD
  • Saucon Valley High School, Thoroughly Modern Millie
  • Southern Lehigh High School, Carousel
  • Warren County Technical School, Annie Get Your Gun
  • Warren Hills Regional High School, TBD
  • Whitehall High School, Guys and Dolls
  • William Allen High School, West Side Story
  • Wilson Area High School, Gigi

The list is preliminary and subject to change, according to the release. A finalized list of the 2016 participants, productions and ticket information is expected to be released in January.

Dieruff High School led the 2015 Freddy Awards with six awards, out of 15 nominations for their production of In the Heights.
