The State Theatre is again turning to patrons and area residents for help in refurbishing the historic Easton performing arts center.
Officials announced Wednesday, in a news release, its 2015 Year End Giving Campaign. The theater is seeking donations, which will be put toward restoring areas of the venue damaged by water and have eroded over the years. The goal of the campaign is $70,000.
In the release, Shelley Brown, State Theatre President and CEO, thanked the community for its generosity and support. "Now that we are certain our beautiful building is protected from the rain, it is time to fix the water damage that has occurred. Our beautiful building is (listed) on the National Register of Historic Places, and we want to make sure that it stays beautifully maintained."
Those who donate $250 or more will receive a drink ticket, good for four beverages at State Theatre bars, the release states. Donations of $100 or more, received by Dec. 1, will be recognized as part of the national #GivingTuesday campaign, with contributor's names appearing on the State Theatre marquee on Dec. 1.
In November 2014, the State Theatre launched a campaign to raise $46,000 of the $92,000 needed to repair its roof, which it was able to do. Half of the $92,000 was secured through a grant the theater received from the Northampton County General Purpose Authority.
