10 things to do this weekend in the Lehigh Valley

July 23, 2015

Nothing to see, nowhere to go this weekend? Let me help you with that. Here are 10 things to do this weekend in the Lehigh Valley:

1.) ManDudeBro

Laugh your ass off, because you will, courtesy of improv comedy troupe ManDudeBro, who performs 10:30 p.m. Friday, July 24, in the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem. Each show is made up on the spot and never repeated. Tickets cost $6, $5 for students and seniors, and $4 for ArtsQuest members. Information: steelstacks.org

2.) Come out and play

The Emmaus Theatre, 19 S. Fourth St., Emmaus, will screen the 1979 cult classic The Warriors 10 p.m. Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25. Tickets cost $8 per screening. Recording artist Adlie will host Saturday's event. Information: emmaustheatre.com

3.) Triple play

Slingshot Dakota, Voirvoir and Summer Scouts will heat up the Allentown Brew Works' Silk Lounge 9 p.m. Saturday, July 25, with a triple dose of scorching rock 'n' roll. The evening will include $4 Long Island Iced Teas and $3 mimosas drink specials. Allentown Brew Works is located at 812 W. Hamilton St., Allentown. Information: thebrewworks.com

4.) Zucchini 500

Easton Farmers' Market's summer classic, the ninth annual Zucchini 500, pulls into Easton's Centre Square Saturday, July 25. Entry fee is $7. Zucchini carving is 9 to 10:45 a.m. Races start 11 a.m. Awards will be given in three categories: Sports Car, Mid-Size and Monster Truck. Keep in mind, wheels must be attached directly to the zucchinis. No chassis or platforms of any kind are allowed. In other words: No cheating! Information: eastonfarmersmarket.com

5.) Stretch out

The Lehigh Valley Yoga Festival is 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at the Nurture Nature Center, 518 Northampton St., Easton. Enjoy an afternoon and evening of yoga, chanting, meditation and live music, for yogies of all skill levels. Tickets cost $15 for children ages 4 to 10-years-old; $50 for ages 11 and older; $150 (includes festival entry, T-shirt, Sean Johnson & The Wild Lotus CD and access to the Sanctuary area with massage chairs, refreshments and private bathroom); and $175 (includes five festival tickets). The 2015 Puerto Rican Parade & Festival is Sunday at Jordan Park in Allentown. The parade starts noon at Fifth and Hamilton streets, Allentown. The festival runs 1 to 7 p.m. at the park. Celebrate Puerto Rican heritage and culture. Information: allentownpa.gov

7.) Cool off

Dutch Springs' Ice Cream Festival is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Dutch Springs, 4733 Hanoverville Road, L. Nazareth Twp. The festival has all of the ingredients for a fun afternoon with the family: ice cream tasting, games, contests, Build-a-Sundae Bar (yes, you read correctly) and live music by rock band Sunshine Symphony. Cost is $5. Dig in.

8.) 'Future' is now

Robert Zemeckis' beloved 1985 film "Back to the Future" will be shown 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Allentown's West Park, 15th and 16th streets (between Linden and Turner streets). Hop in your DeLorean and watch Marty McFly and Doc Brown together on the big screen. Free admission. Information: allentownpa.gov

9.) Pick up and blow

Harmonica player James Supra and his band perform 7 p.m. Friday, July 24, at Catasauqua Park in Catasauqua. What better way to start the weekend than with down and dirty blues? Information: jamessuprabluesband.com

10.) Meet the artist

Chat with artist Colleen Heller Alrefai 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at Terra Cafe, 321 Northampton St., Easton. Alrefai will be on hand to discuss her works, which are on display in the cafe.
