10,000 Maniacs, David Cook returning to Bethlehem

Alternative rock band 10,000 Maniacs and American Idol Season 7 winner David Cook are among the latest additions to ArtsQuest's Musikfest Cafe lineup, announced today in a news release.

10,000 Maniacs are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19. The group -- best known for such hits as "These Are the Days," "Candy Everybody Wants" and their cover of Patti Smith Group's "Because the Night" -- previously headlined the venue in February 2014. Tickets cost $39-$49.

Cook, set to release his fourth studio album, Digital Vein, in September, has been penciled in for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10. Cook in 2009 headlined Bethlehem's Musikfest celebration. The singer has also performed Allentown's Crocodile Rock Cafe (in 2011) and in October 2013 at Musikfest Cafe.

Other announced Musikfest Cafe shows are:

  • The Sofa Kings, 8 p.m. Nov. 21; $8-$10 in advance, $10-$15 at the door
  • The Philadelphia Funk Authority and Mike Dugan Band, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 27; $15-$20 in advance, $18-$23 at the door
  • The Large Flowerheads, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 28; $10-$12 in advance, $15-$17 at the door
  • TAKE Dance Presents "Footsteps in the Snow" and "Linked," 8 p.m. Dec. 11; $20
  • Scythian, 8 p.m. Dec. 12; $15-$25 in advance, $18-$28 at the door
  • Jimmy and the Parrots' Holiday Parrot Party, 8 p.m. Dec. 18; $10-$12 in advance, $15-$18 at the door

ArtsQuest also revealed new shows for the Blast Furnace Room at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks: "Best of Open Mic," 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23, and Wild Adriatic, 8 p.m. Nov. 28. Tickets for "Best of Open Mic" cost $5 in advance, $10 at the door. Wild Adriatic tickets cost $10.

Tickets for all performances, except Cook, go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, through steelstacks.org or by calling 610-332-3378. Cook tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Aug. 4.
