10 things to do this weekend in the Lehigh Valley

August 13, 2015

Nothing to see, nowhere to go this weekend? Let me help you with that. Here are 10 things to do this weekend in the Lehigh Valley:

1.) Explosive ending

Musikfest draws to a close Sunday, Aug. 16, in Bethlehem, with grunge rockers Alice in Chains headlining the Sands Steel Stage at SteelStacks. Fireworks are scheduled for 9:45 p.m. Tickets for Alice in Chains cost $55 and $45; $169 for Steel Terrace seating.

2.) Alternate take

Allentown's Alternative Gallery, 707 N. Fourth St. (located inside the Cigar Factory), will host a quintuple bill 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, featuring the bands Naked, Mother Moon, G.S.G.A. (Goodnight Stars, Goodnight Air), L.M.I. and Seer. The show will also showcase works by artist Dylan Garrett Smith. This is an all-ages show, but you must be 21 or older to drink. Suggested donation is $7 at the door. Keep it loud, keep it local. Information: thealternativegallery.com

3.) Dance machines

DJ ReaLion and King Asad team up for an evening of fresh beats and hot tunes, 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Pearly Baker's Alehouse, 11 Centre Square, Easton. No cover.

4.) Straight Outta Boston

Classic rockers Boston -- best known for such hits as "More Than a Feeling," "Foreplay/Long Time," "Peace of Mind" and "Amanda" -- return to Bethlehem 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, to headline the Sands Bethlehem Event Center, 77 Sands Blvd., Bethlehem. Tickets cost $95, $85 and $65. Information: sandseventcenter.com

5.) Rock on

The School of Rock's Summer Season Performance Group performs 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at 501 American St., Catasauqua as part of the Catasauqua Summer Concert Series.

6.) Hot stuff

The Burning Hearts Fire & Light Theater returns 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, to the Allentown Brew Works, 812 W. Hamilton St., Allentown. Information: thebrewworks.com

7.) Double dip

Crank up the volume and rock out with the bands The Snails and The Duppies 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at The Funhouse, 5 E. Fourth St., Bethlehem.

8.) Ring time

Meet former World Wrestling Entertainment Superstar Shelton Benjamin noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Carson's Pro Wrestling World, located inside the Merchants Square Mall, 1901 S. 12th St., Allentown. Autographs and photo opportunities cost $15 each.

9.) Murphy's law

Governing Murphy rocks The Steel Pub, 320 E. First St., Bethlehem, 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15. Throw up the horns and party the weekend away.

10.) Mic check

Connexions Gallery, 213 Northampton St., Easton, hosts its open mic night 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14. And it's BYOB!
