The way our current political landscape is playing out, the timing could not be more perfect to revisit director Mike Judge's cult classic Idiocracy.

ArtsQuest will do just that by participating in a 10th anniversary screening and live-stream interview with Judge and star Maya Rudolph. The event is scheduled for 9:45 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas at SteelStacks in Bethlehem.

Tickets cost $10, $8 for students and seniors and $7.50 for ArtsQuest members.

Questions for Judge and Rudolph will be taken via Twitter, using the hashtag #IdiocracyToday. The Q&A will be streamed live from the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica.

In the film, Luke Wilson portrays Joe Bauers, an "average American" who enrolls in a top-secret government hibernation program. He wakes up five centuries later to a society so dumbed down that he has, literally, become the smartest person alive. (The movie's tagline is "In the future, intelligence is extinct.") Released in 2006, Idiocracy grossed only $438,653 at the U.S. box office, according to IMDB.com, but has since become a cult classic among fans.

Judge is also the creator and voice behind Beavis & Butt-head and King of the Hill. He also directed the films Office Space and Extract.
