State Theatre going green with 'Bright Future' fundraiser campaign

November 28, 2016

The State Theatre is turning to patrons and members of the greater Lehigh Valley community to help shine a light on green technology.

The Easton venue is launching its "Bright Future" 2016 year-end fundraiser campaign to support a eco-friendly project that includes an LED conversion of its main hall and stage area, as well as exterior security lights. Theater officials announced the campaign Monday in a news release.

Through donations, the "Bright Future" project will potentially save up to 80 percent per year in energy costs with LED bulbs, which last 10 times longer than the incandescent bulbs that are currently in place, the release states.

The goal for the "Bright Future" campaign is $40,000.

"Lighting is important in every aspect of show business and the amount of light bulbs we use in our facility is huge," State Theatre President and CEO Shelley Brown says in the release. "We are always looking for ways to lower operating costs and be environmentally-friendly. We have found LED lights and a dimmer system that will help us maintain our luster and accomplish those goals. Our community has helped keep our historic building in great shape. This is one more very special way to help."

As part of the theater's "90 Years of Wow" celebration, those who contribute $90 or more by Dec. 21 will be able to see their name in lights on the State Theatre marquee during the week of Dec. 24-Jan. 1, according to the release.

Tax-detuctible contributions can be made to: State Theatre Bright Future Campaign, 453 Northampton St., Easton, PA 18042, or online at statetheatre.org.
