Organizers of the second annual Open World Animation Festival have added a fourth day to give animations fans even more reason to head to Allentown this spring.

The event is slated for March 23-26 at The Alternative Gallery.

The four-day celebration of animation will take a film festival approach in which animators and creators will have win awards, including Best in Show, also known as The Voyager Award, according to a news release. Nine awards in total will be handed out during the festival, including The Simpsons-inspired Homey Award.

There will be a mix of stop-motion, digital and computer animation, music videos, experimental film, Claymation, rotoscoping, live-action-animation, motion graphics, film cels, 3-D films and GIFs. A virtual reality component will also be intertwined with the festival, with audience members using a pair of VR headsets to watch films.

In between screenings, classic and retro commercials will be shown as part of the "Saturday Morning Cartoons!" feature.

Festival programming will be announced in February, according to the release. Tickets and VIP passes will go on sale that month through OpenWorldAnimation.com.

Filmmakers can submit their works through OpenWorldAnimation.com/Submit.

The Alternative Gallery is located at 707 N. Fourth St., Suite 103.
