Lehigh Valley native Kate Micucci joins DC Comics heroes in NBC's 'Powerless'

May 20, 2016

Actress Kate Micucci's many credits include a recurring role on the television series The Big Bang Theory, starring in IFC's Garfunkel and Oates and leading the Nazareth kazoo parade.

Now she can add rubbing elbows with the heroes of DC Comics Universe to her acting utility belt.

Micucci, a native of Bushkill Township, co-stars in the upcoming NBC comedy series Powerless. The show's premise revolves around a specialized insurance firm that deals with the aftermath and collateral damage of superhero smackdowns. The Powerless cast is rounded out by Vanessa Hudgens, Alan Tudyk, Danny Pudi, Christina Kirk, Atlin Mitchell and Josh Fadem.

The pilot episode features an appearance by DC heroine (and one-time Justice League member) Crimson Fox. The teaser trailer -- which appeared online Thursday but was quickly pulled by NBC -- includes mentions of Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern.

Powerless does not have an official air date but is planned as a mid-season replacement for the network's 2016-17 season.

Micucci's other acting credits include the shows Scrubs, Raising Hope and Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! (as the voice of Velma) and the 2010 film When in Rome. She recently appeared as a contestant on the Comedy Central series @midnight.

Micucci is a 1998 graduate of Nazareth Area High School.
