Reunited rock band The Insidious Rays have added a second performance in their hometown of Bethlehem.
The quintet will perform 9 p.m. Aug. 12 at The Funhouse. The Insidious Rays are also booked for Aug. 14 on Musikfest's Americaplatz (Levitt Pavilion) stage.
The Insidious Rays lineup consists of vocalist-guitarist Matt Juknevic, drummer-vocalist Jon Braun, guitarist Michael Davidson, bassist Seth Juknevic and guitarist-keyboardist Chris McDermott.
The group formed in 2001, originally as a three-piece consisting of Braun, Davidson (on bass) and Matt Juknevic. Soon Davidson moved over to guitar with the addition of bassist David Johnsen and keyboardist Nick Levinos. (Levinos and Johnsen eventually parted ways with the band and were replaced by Jason Hedrington and Seth Juknevic, respectively, on keys and bass.)
The Insidious Rays quickly developed a large underground following in the Lehigh Valley, earning rave reviews for their energetic live show. They released four albums between 2001 and 2007, including 2005's Exotic Handshakes. Exotic Handshakes was produced by Andrew Weiss (Ween, Yoko Ono, Butthole Surfers and Rollins Band).
Since the band's split, its members have found success in various other music projects. Braun serves as front-man for Talking Heads tribute band Start Making Sense and Hall and Oates tribute band HmfO. Braun was the drummer for popular Bethlehem-based surf rock group Great White Caps.
Seth Juknevic is a member of local reggae outfit Trouble City All-Stars and "stoner-metal" band Goat Wizard. Matt Juknevic performs in Bethlehem-based indie rock band VoirVoir.
Hedrington handles keyboard duties for Easton's Roi and the Secret People and music trio The Gonzo Project.
Levinos continues to perform as a solo artist and is a member of Led Zeppelin tribute band Zepplehem.
