Freddy Awards, FireRock productions nab Mid-Atlantic Emmy nominations

August 10, 2016

The milestones continue to pour in for the Freddy Awards and FireRock Productions.

The annual celebration of high school musical theater has received its seventh Mid-Atlantic Emmy nomination, according to a news release. The broadcast, which has been held at Easton's State Theatre since its launch in 2003, has been nominated in the category of Arts Program/Special.

The Freddy Awards previously nabbed a regional Emmy award in 2005 and 2011. Additionally, the Freddys have captured six Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters awards. In 2008, the ceremony was filmed for the documentary Most Valuable Players, which was released in 2010.

Emmaus-based video production company FireRock Production also earned Mid-Atlantic Emmy nominations, collecting four overall, according to a separate news release. The company has been nominated in the Magazine Program/Special and Commercial Single Spot categories, as well as craft achievement for Carlo Acerra and Rocky Urich (as short form editors) and Urich as program photographer.

FireRock Productions has accumulated 15 previous nominations and have won five times. Their wins include the 2013 Emmy for "Happiness is Always an Option."

The 34th annual Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards will be held at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown in Philadelphia.
