Quiet Riot to rock Northampton's Gin Mill & Grille

August 25, 2016

Northampton is going to feel the noise when heavy-metal vets Quiet Riot bring their tour to the Gin Mill & Grille.

The band -- best known for their rendition of Slade's "Cum On Feel the Noize" and the song "Bang Your Head (Metal Health)" -- are set to perform Sept. 8 at the venue.

Tickets cost $28 in advance, $35 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m.

In 1983, Quiet Riot's platinum-selling Metal Health album famously bumped The Police out of the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart -- the first heavy-metal band to reach No. 1.

Quiet Riot was co-founded by guitarist Randy Rhoads, who would go on to find success as Ozzy Osbourne's lead guitarist after leaving the band in 1979. (Rhoads was killed in a plane crash in 1982.)

The group split up in 2007, following the death of singer Kevin DuBrow. Three years later, drummer Frankie Banali revived Quiet Riot. The current lineup is rounded out by bassist Chuck Wright, guitarist Alex Grossi and singer Jizzy Pearl.

The quartet's most recent studio release is 2014's Quiet Riot 10.

The Gin Mill & Grille is located at 1750 Main St.
