Call it a case of life imitating art imitating Hasselhoff.

ArtsQuest will hold its inaugural "Hasselhoff-Off Competition" on Oct. 7 during its annual Oktoberfest celebration at the SteelStacks complex in Bethlehem. Officials announced the event Thursday in a news release.

Start time is 8 p.m.

The event will feature attendees competing in a David Hasselhoff costume and impersonation contest. From there, competitors will square off in a simulated beach rescue, then engage in a Knight Rider-themed "car-conversation challenge." Finally, those vying for the coveted pair of red swim trunks will be tasked with performing karaoke tunes in German.

"Adored and embraced as one of their own, Germans can't get enough of The Hoff, so what better way to celebrate an Oktoberfest event than by running in slow-motion to the Baywatch theme song?" the release states.

In addition to being a bona fide pop superstar in Germany, Hasselhoff has won over fans for his portrayals of hunky lifeguard Mitch Buchannon on Baywatch and crime-fighter Michael Knight on Knight Rider. He was also the subject of a 2010 Comedy Central celebrity roast.
