VIDEO: Movies at the Mill founder on bringing Hollywood star power, street fair to Easton

September 19, 2016

Movies at the Mill founder Gershon Hinkson is taking advantage of the phrase "go big or go home" by doing both for the eighth annual festival.

The event returns 5 p.m. Sept. 24 to the State Theatre in Easton.

This year's slate of films includes submissions from actor-director Danny DeVito (Curmudgeons) and actor-director Matthew Modine (Super Sex). Other highlights include the comedy Marjorie's Funeral (from Allentown-based Julian Farris Films) and Lester's Collection, courtesy of DeSales University graduate Nick Lallo.

Following the screenings, the festival will move down the block to Ferry Street, where a carnival-themed street fair will be held between Third and Second streets. Wristband passes to the after-party will be available for purchase through participating food vendors.

Writer-director Gary Ross will be in town that morning to lead a screenwriting seminar, from 10 to 11 a.m. at City Hall. Ross' writing credits include Big, The Hunger Games, Free State of Jones and the upcoming ensemble comedy Ocean's Eight. He was behind the lens for The Hunger Games, Free State of Jones and will return to the director's chair Ocean's Eight.

Tickets, which cost $20, can be purchased online through the theater's website, or at the box office, 453 Northampton St.

In the following video, Hinkson teases what he has in store for Movies at the Mill 8 attendees and how he plans on raising the stakes for this year's festival.
