Easton brewpub to host 'Sixth Street Horror' outdoor triple feature this weekend

October 25, 2017

Two Rivers Brewing Company is bringing a touch of the macabre to South Sixth Street in Easton.

The brewpub on Friday night will host its "Sixth Street Horror" movie and costume party, which include an outdoor triple feature of Night of the Living Dead, The Boogie Man Will Get You, and the original House on Haunted Hill.

The event starts at 6 p.m. and will include a costume contest. There will be a concession stand of food, snacks and "adult beverages," according to a Facebook event page.

Director George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead was released in 1968 and gave birth to the zombie film genre. Filmed in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Night of the Living Dead spawned the sequels Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead, and Survival of the Dead. A seventh installment, Road of the Dead, is set to be released in 2018. Romero died in July at the age of 77.

The Boogie Man Will Get You, released in 1942, stars late horror icon Boris Karloff -- who famously portrayed the monster in 1931's Frankenstein -- in a tale about a young divorcee who attempts to a historic house into a hotel, despite the buiding's oddball inhabitants and dead bodies in the cellar, according to IMDB.com.

House on Haunted Hill stars the late Vincent Price as an eccentric millionaire who offers five strangers $10,000 to stay overnight in a large, creepy house with him and his wife. Forty years after its theatrical debut in 1959, a remake starring Geoffrey Rush, Famke Janssen, Taye Diggs and Chris Kattan was released in 1999.
