Movies with a side of brains: Mahoning Drive-In Theater bringing back 'Zombiefest' this spring

February 18, 2017

The Mahoning Drive-In Theater is diving back into the zombie pile this spring for their third annual "Zombiefest" movie marathon.

The three-day event is scheduled for May 26-28 at the Lehighton theater. The nightly screenings will start at sundown.

Opening night will feature back-to-back screenings of Night of the Comet, Rabid and 1980's Invasion of the Flesh Hunters. The May 27 screenings will be dedicated to director Sam Raimi's fan-favorite Evil Dead trilogy, starting with the cult classic The Evil Dead and followed by the sequels Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness.

Rounding out the lineup on May 28 will be a triple bill of Stephen King and George A. Romero's Creepshow, Land of the Dead and Raiders of the Living Dead.

Admission costs $10 per night.

"Zombiefest III" is a joint presentation between the Mahoning Drive-In Theater and Exhumed Films.
