Allentown JazzFest reveals first round of spring performances

Renowned drummer Jeff "Tain" Watts Trio, Hell's Kitchen Funk Orchestra, Chris Cummings Trio, Hot Club of Philadelphia and Dave Liebman are among the acts set to perform during the 2017 Allentown JazzFest.

Organizers have revealed the first batch of artists and show dates, though some locations will be announced at a later date.

The list of acts is rounded out by Kiki Vilani, The Collingwood, Beholder, Dieruff High School Big Band, Hot Bijouxx and Hector Rosado y Orq HACHE. The Dan DeChellis Trio will headline a April 20 preview concert at the Allentown Art Museum.

Additionally, Moravian Book Shop will host "knw. + Conversation" live talk show on May 3 and 4 at its Allentown location. The event is free and open to the public.

Tickets for all other scheduled performances can be purchased on the Allentown JazzFest website.  

Here is the lineup so far:

APRIL 20

  • 6 p.m.: Dan DeChellis Trio, Allentown Art Museum

MAY 3

  • 5:30 p.m.: "knw. + Conversation," Moravian Book Shop, 645 Hamilton St.
  • 6 p.m.: Kiki Villani, The Dime Bar & Restaurant, 12 N. Seventh St.
  • 7:30 p.m.: The Collingwood, TBA

MAY 4

  • 5:30 p.m.: "knw. + Conversation," Moravian Book Shop, 645 Hamilton St.
  • 6 p.m.: Chris Cummings Trio, TBA
  • 7 p.m.: Hot Club of Philadelphia, 187 Rue Principale, 187 Main St., Emmaus; $35

MAY 5

  • 6 p.m.: Beholder, Centro, 530 W. Hamilton St.
  • 7:30 p.m.: Hell's Kitchen Funk Orchestra, TBA

MAY 6

  • 3 p.m.: Dieruff High School Big Band, Allentown Art Museum
  • 4 p.m.: Hot Bijouxx, Allentown Art Museum
  • 8 p.m.: Jeff "Tain" Watts Trio, Allentown Art Museum; $50, $40 for museum members (price includes admission to the museum)
  • 10 p.m.: Hecto Rosado y Orq HACHE, The Barrister's Club, 1114 W. Walnut St.; $10 in advance, $15 at the door

All performances will be held in Allentown, unless otherwise noted.
