Musikfest taps Lehighton rock band to open Godsmack concert

July 1, 2017

The future of Lehighton rock band Another Day Dawns continues to look brighter by the minute.

The Lehighton-based hard rock band will open for heavy-metal vets Godsmack during the latter's Aug. 9 concert at Musikfest Bethlehem, the band recently revealed via Facebook.

Tickets cost $49-$79; $169 for Steel Terrace seating.

Another Day Dawns, also referred to as A.D.D., recently landed a supporting gig with Fuel, Marcy Playground and Dishwalla at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe. On July 15, the group will open for Puddle of Mudd's show at One Centre Square in Easton.

The group was nominated for three awards during the 2017 Lehigh Valley Music Awards, including the industry ballot nomination for Outstanding Rock Band/Solo.

The Musikfest performance will mark the fifth such time festival organizers have turned to a Lehigh Valley-based act to open for one of its national headliners. Former Bangor-based hard rock outfit Stasis kicked off the Puddle of Mudd's 2009 concert at Musikfest. In 2015, Bethlehem-based indie rockers VoirVoir opened for The Flaming Lips, while fellow headliners 3 Doors Down and Collective Soul received support from Bethlehem's Eighteenth Hour. That same year, blues guitarist Craig Thatcher, of Coopersburg, and his trio opened for ZZ Top.

Godsmack's quadruple-platinum-selling, 1998 self-titled debut album spawned the singles "Whatever," "Keep Away" and "Voodoo." Additionally, the band has racked up three consecutive number-one albums on the Billboard 200 chart. Their other hits include "I Stand Alone," "Straight Out of Line," "Speak" and "Whiskey Hangover."
