Movies at the Mill 10 winners include 'The Voice of Lafayette,' 'Lifeline'

October 1, 2018

The emotionally stirring black and white short film Lifeline is among the winners of the Movies at the Mill festival.

Directed by L. Marcus Williams, Lifeline won the Best in Show prize. Lifeline focuses on a woman who calls a suicide hotline and — to her surprise — finds hope and inspiration from the operator who takes her call.

The Best from the Valley award went to The Voice of Lafayette, from directors Jen Suwak and Steve Abruzzese. The Voice of Lafayette is a touching documentary short, which follows Lafayette College public address announcer Jim Finnen as he concludes his 53rd year with the Leopards.

Time Traveller, director Steve Kenny’s nod to Back to the Future, won the Audience Award. The short film centers on a young boy’s efforts to finish building his own DeLorean replica before he and his family are evicted from their halting site in rural Ireland.

Movies at the Mill 10 was held Sept. 29 at the Silk complex in Easton.
