Sublime with Rome, Goo Goo Dolls and Train coming to Lehigh Valley in 2019

November 13, 2018

There only a few weeks left on the 2018 calendar, but 2019’s concert lineup continues to take shape.

State Theatre announced Monday the addition of alternative rock band Sublime with Rome to its 2018-19 season.

The group — made up of founding Sublime bassist Eric Wilson, drummer Carlos Verdug, and singer-guitarist Rome Ramirez — on Jan. 13 will headline Spin Radio 107.1’s Frost Fest at the historic Easton venue. Sublime with Rome will be joined by supporting act Lovelytheband.

Tickets, which cost $59 and $49, go on sale 10 a.m. Wednesday to theater members; 10 a.m. Friday to the public via statetheatre.org and by calling 610-252-3132. Show time is 7 p.m.

Sublime found success in the mid-1990s on the strength of the singles “What I Got,” “Santeria,” and “Wrong Way.” Sublime disbanded in 1996 following the death of frontman Bradley Nowell. Wilson, Ramirez and founding Sublime drummer Bud Gaugh formed Sublime with Rome in 2010. (Gaugh left the group in 2011.) Sublime with Rome have since released two studio albums: their 2011 debut, Yours Truly, and 2015’s Sirens.

The band is working on the follow-up to Sirens in 2019, according to the release. Their single “Wicked Heart,” from the forthcoming effort, dropped in July.

Sublime with Rome headlined Musikfest in 2010 and 2012.

In other Lehigh Valley concert news, Goo Goo Dolls and Train will headline the 2019 Musikfest celebration on Aug. 6, ArtsQuest recently announced in a news release.

Tickets for Goo Goo Dolls and Train cost $59-$89 and go on sale 10 a.m. Nov. 27 to ArtsQuest members, 10 a.m. Nov. 30 to the public. Tickets can be purchased at musikfest.org or by calling 610-332-3378. Show time is 7 p.m.

Goo Goo Dolls previously headlined Musikfest in 2013. The chart-topping, Grammy-nominated band performed at neighboring Sands Bethlehem Event Center in 2013 and 2016. Their hits include “Name,” “Slide,” “Iris,” “Broadway,” and “Here is Gone.” Goo Goo Dolls’ 2016 studio album, Boxes, spawned the popular single “So Alive.”

Grammy winners Train are best known for such hits as “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me),” “Meet Virginia,” “If It’s Love,” “Marry Me,” and “Hey Soul Sister.” In August, Train released the single “Call Me, Sir,” which features guest vocals from country music singers Cam and Travis McCoy.

Musikfest will be held Aug. 2-11.
