Ben Tyler is “Ready” for his close-up.

The Allentown-based singer-songwriter recently dropped his sweeping new single and accompanying music video.

“Ready” opens with a lilting piano riff that becomes the song’s melodic hook and focal point. A chugging drum beat (which kicks in around the 2:45 mark) builds momentum, giving “Ready” an even bigger sound.

Tyler says he was lyrically inspired by the juggling of marriage and parenthood — while yearning for something more. That longing is reflected in the moody undercurrent of “Ready.”

Yet there is a brightness — and more importantly, a sense of hope —that shines through.

It doesn’t hurt that “Ready” is the kind of tune that is calling out to be used as the theme song to a Netflix drama series.

Overall, “Ready” is a polished and well-written piece of modern pop music.
