Weekend fundraiser to benefit Bethlehem singer-songwriter

October 14, 2015

Friends and supporters of musician Billy Bauer are turning to Lehigh Valley residents to help the singer-songwriter recover from potentially career-threatening throat surgery.

A fundraiser in Bauer's honor will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 at McCarthy's Red Stag Pub and Whiskey Bar in Bethlehem. There will be a $10 suggested donation at the door.

Bauer recently underwent surgery to remove a lesion on his vocal chords, which has caused the father of three to not be able to perform for the past several months, according to a news release. As a result, Bauer and his family have been severely impacted, financially, by the costs of surgery and rehabilitation. Music, the release states, is Bauer's primary source of income.

The fundraiser will feature raffle prizes donated by local restaurants, businesses and artists, including Martin Guitar, Porters' Pub, Two Rivers Brewing Company, Pearly Baker's Alehouse, Dolce Patisserie, ArtsQuest, Cutco, Heidi Ott, Matt Dellecker, Jessi Lee Ross and the Billy Bauer Band. Raffle tickets cost $1 each

Music will be performed by Dellecker, Ross, James Supra and Sarah Ayers Quartet, Joel Zingone and John Hufford.

Bauer, a popular staple of the Valley's local music scene, performs solo and fronts the Billy Bauer Band. He also hosts ArtsQuest's weekly Thursday night open mic night at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks.
