From Best Damn Comedian to Best WaWa and Best Larry Holmes, the inaugural Lehigh Valley Thumbs Up Awards put a new, and much different, spin on the traditional awards show. The ceremony, presented and hosted by Lehigh Valley improvisational comedy troupe ManDudeBro, is Saturday, Nov. 14, at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem.
I sat down with ManDudeBro member Dan Maher late Wednesday morning, a little more than 24 hours before online voting draws to a close, to share the inspiration for the Lehigh Valley Thumbs Awards, his favorite category and what attendees can expect this weekend. (Voting for the 65 categories ends 11:59 tonight through the Lehigh Valley Thumbs Up Awards Facebook page.)
"Voting response has been amazing. People have really enjoyed voting for this process. We've been rolling new awards, rolling out new categories, every four days for the past several weeks," Maher said. "People have really enjoyed voting as each one has come out."
