'Community' star Joel McHale coming to Easton

August 27, 2015

Joel McHale, star of Community and host of E!'s Talk Soup, is bringing his stand-up tour to Easton.

The 43-year-old actor-comedian on Oct. 9 will make his debut on the State Theatre stage, officials announced Tuesday in a news release. Show time is 8 p.m.

Tickets cost $65 (Gold Circle seating), $58 and $47. Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Sept. 2 to State Theatre members; Sept. 9 to the public through statetheatre.org, by calling 610-252-3132 and at the box office, 453 Northampton St.

McHale plays Jeff Winger on Community, which ran for five seasons on NBC. Following its cancellation in 2014, the show was picked up by Yahoo! and aired its sixth season in March. McHale's film credits include Ted, Spider-Man 2, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World and A Merry Friggin' Christmas (opposite the late Robin Williams).

The success of The Soup in 2013 led to the E! spin-off series, The Soup Investigates, which stars McHale. The network recently picked up McHale's unscripted, Internet-inspired comedy series The Comment Section, according to the release.

The Soup was originally titled Talk Soup and ran from 1991 to 2002 on E!. In 2004, the show was rebranded and relaunched as The Soup, with McHale as its host.
