Great Scott! Fifteen DeLoreans will take center stage on Sunday at SteelStacks

October 21, 2016

Who says you need a flux capacitor to travel back in time?

Fans of the Back to the Future franchise on Sunday will have the chance to feast their eyes on 15 DeLorean vehicles during the final installment of ArtsQuest's "Cars & Coffee" series. The event will be held 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, Oct. 23.

Admission is free.

The DeLorean DMC-12 became part of the pop culture vernacular in the early 1980s after its inclusion in director Robert Zemekis' Back to the Future film, as the time machine used by Emmett "Doc" Brown and Marty McFly.

The DeLorean DMC-12 is the only model ever produced by the DeLorean Motor Company, according to a news release. Less than 9,000 models were manufactured before production was halted in 1983 -- two years before Back to the Future sped into theaters, according to  the release.

Up to 500 different vehicles of various makes and models will be showcased during "Cars & Coffee" on Sunday.

Today is also Back to the Future Day, honoring the date to which Marty and Doc travel in the film.

Though Back to the Future stars Christopher Lloyd or Michael J. Fox will be in attendance at SteelStacks, Lloyd is scheduled to appear at the State Theatre in Easton.
