David Bowie, Glenn Frey tribute concert planned in Allentown

February 4, 2016

Lehigh Valley musicians will pay tribute to the musical legacy of David Bowie and Glenn Frey during a February concert in Allentown.

The show is planned for 2p.m. Feb. 28 at Allentown Masonic Temple.

Tickets cost $10 at the door (cash only). All proceeds will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The event is BYOB.

Local musicians slated to perform are: Dina Hall, Moe Jerant, JP Jordan, Chris Eichlin, Sarah Ayers, James Supra, Jordyn Kenzie, Connie Edinger, The 120 Minutes, Don Hoffman and Friends and Steve Brosky and Jimmy Meyer. Additional performers will be announced at a later date, according to the concert's Facebook event page.

Bowie died Jan. 10 at age 69 after a lengthy battle with cancer. His final studio album, and 25th studio overall, Blackstar, was released Jan. 8. The iconic and influential singer's extensive catalog of hits singles includes "Rebel Rebel," "Ziggy Stardust," "Heroes," "Fame," "Changes," "The Jean Genie," "Suffragette City," "Young Americans," "Let's Dance" and "Modern Love."

Frey, a co-founding member of Rock and Roll Hall of Famer inductees the Eagles, died Jan. 18. He was 67. Frey's distinctive voice can be heard on such Eagles tunes as "Take It Easy," "Peaceful Easy Feeling," "Tequila Sunrise," "Already Gone," "Lyin' Eyes" and "Heartache Tonight."
