Vinyl lovers, rejoice! Record Store Day is Saturday, April 16.

Fortunately for record hounds and collectors like myself, there are a plethora of independent record stores nestled throughout the greater Lehigh Valley.

This year's Record Store Day exclusives include releases from Anthrax, Best Coast, Big Star, David Bowie, Buzzcocks, Death Cab for Cutie, The Flaming Lips, Bob Dylan, Florence + The Machine, Joan Jett, NOFX, Outkast, Violent Femmes and Walk the Moon, among many others. Keep in mind that no two shops are necessarily going to have the same releases in stock (which makes seeking them out that much more fun).

Here are the participating area stores:

Pennsylvania

  • Double Decker, 808 St. John St., Allentown
  • Compact Disc Center, 1365 Easton Ave., Bethlehem
  • Play It Again Records, 129 W. Fourth St., Bethlehem
  • Used Grooves, 401 Northampton St., Easton
  • Easton Record Exchange, 58 Centre Square, Easton
  • Gr8soundz, 1055 Main St., Hellertown
  • Rattail Records, 15 E. Main St., Kutztown
  • Young Ones, 26 S. Whiteoak St., Kutztown
  • Main St. Jukebox, 606 Main St., Stroudsburg

  • SellingTales Books, Music Movies & More, 113 Main St., Hackettstown
  • Sound Effects Records, 229 Main St., Hackettstown

In addition to carrying RSD exclusives, Phillipsburg's Spin Me Round Records will host a free concert featuring local acts Know Your Enemy, Refuse the Conformity, Cedar Green, World Poison, Oscillating Eye, Wyatt Davidick and Sing, Birds of Prey. Music starts at 5 p.m.

There will also be live music at Main St. Jukebox. Patti Smith Group guitarist Lenny Kaye will headline the show, which will include sets by the bands Disposable, Skysleeper, Mongooch and Lorg.

Happy hunting!
