ArtsQuest's 2017 RiverJazz festival will feature Aaron Neville, Cherry Poppin' Daddies

March 1, 2017

Singer Aaron Neville, swing band Cherry Poppin' Daddies and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band are among the acts slated to headline ArtsQuest's 2017 Riverjaze festival in Bethlehem.

The lineup was announced Tuesday in a news release.

In 1967, Neville scored a hit with the single "Tell It Like It Is." He later found success in the late 1970s with his brothers Cyril, Charles and Art -- first as the backing group for the Wild Tchoupitoulas, then on their own as The Neville Brothers. Aaron Neville headlined Lehigh University's Zoellner Arts Center in September 2013.

Cherry Poppin' Daddies' 1997 album Zoot Suit Riot: The Swinging' Hits of the Cherry Poppin' Daddies album spawned the hit single "Zoot Suit Riot." The group performed during the 2014 Riverjaze festival.

The Dirty Dozen Brass Band has collaborated with Elvis Costello, Dr. John, Widespread Panic, Modest Mouse, Dave Matthews Band and the late Davie Bowie, among others.

Other announced acts include Grammy Award-winning Robert Glasper.

Show dates and times are:

  • 7:30 p.m. May 23: Cherry Poppin' Daddies; $39-$49
  • 8 p.m. May 26: Dirty Dozen Brass Band; $35-$45
  • 8 p.m. June 16: Aaron Neville; $49-$49
  • 7:30 p.m. June 21: Robert Glasper; $27-$37

Tickets for all four concerts will go on sale 10 a.m. March 7 to ArtsQuest members, 10 a.m. March 10 to the public through steelstacks.org and by calling 610-332-3378.

Riverjazz will take place at SteelStacks in Bethlehem.
