Robert Randolph and The Family Band joins Southside Arts & Music Festival lineup

March 14, 2017

Robert Randolph and The Family Band will headline opening night of ArtsQuest's third annual Southside Arts & Music Festival, officials announced Monday in a news release.

The acclaimed funk and soul band will perform 10:15 p.m. April 28 on the Musikfest Cafe stage. The festival will be held April 28-29 in SouthSide Bethlehem.

Daily festival passes -- the price of which includes access to all five participating venues -- cost $30; $50 for two-day passes. Festival passes for ArtsQuest members cost $28 and $45.

This year's performer lineup includes alternative rock band Rusted Root, blues guitarist Coco Montoya and percussionist/Bethlehem native Pablo Batista. (Batista's credits include performed at the 2002 Grammy Awards with Alicia Keys.)

Other festival highlights include: artisan sidewalk popup shops, food trucks, "Lehigh Valley Art Wars," Steampunk-inspired jewelry-making, a mural installation by traveling artist residency program Dripped on the Road, contemporary dance performances by B.S. Movement and a Bethlehem Steel-inspired graffiti tape art installation and workshop by artist Jay Walker at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks. Walker will also design plaid shirt artwork pieces, which will be installed in empty storefronts and merchant locations throughout SouthSide Bethlehem, according to the release.

Additionally, improvisational comedy troupe The Associated Mess will perform April 29 at Touchstone Theatre.

Randolph and The Family Band's latest release is Got Soul, which dropped in February.

Musikfest Cafe is located inside the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way.
